BIM-management and BIM-coordination 

The project 'Zwemcentrum de Welle' is the first assignment for which Hooper Architects in Oosterhout had to take responsibility in the area of BIM management and BIM lead for the entire design team. In order to manage this role, they entered into a partnership with Based. 

Intensive support clash controle

After the sketch design, we drafted - together with them - the BIM protocol and BIM implementation plan in the preliminary design phase. In addition, we provided Hooper Architects with intensive support in the execution of clash checks in the final design phase. This enabled them to carry out the clash checks more independently during the technical design phase.

Based drew up a clash matrix including the clash rules with which the clash checks could be carried out on low, medium and high priority clashes. This enabled Hooper to make correct agreements with the consultants about the order in which clashes would be resolved. We also paid a lot of attention to the model of recesses. The correct labels created in the BIM Collab environment made checking recesses a lot easier.

We asked Hooper Architects what they have learned from working with Based: 

"For me personally, the knowledge of BIM has grown enormously; the amount of information that a BIM model needs to have reaches many times further than just the use of a 3D modelling programme. As a BIM team, we have also found that the reconciliation of various aspect models during a BIM project is accomplished many times more accurately when an intensive process (2 weekly checks) is followed.This will be an enormous benefit for the executing party. They can extract quantities that are correct on the basis of the merged IFC models. 

As a result of the process we went through with Zwemcomplex de Welle, we at Hooper Architects have decided to develop a standard template in terms of the information that needs to be put into the IFC model. This will allow future projects to be of higher quality in the BIM trajectory in terms of BIM basis ILS. So we got a lot out of this cooperation and experienced Based's method of working as very pleasant!"
